Help! A dream in the making for many years, but I am restricted in funds...  (10 Answers)

I am traveling from San Francisco (SFO) to EZE. So far I am able to find airfare for635/one way to EZE airport. The problem is the return from EZE to SFO. The ticket climbs up to1035 and higher. I am employed, but very under-employed. I can afford1000/rt. Max1200. Trip is during the Christmas break anytime from 12/20 to 1/10. I have tried AA, United, Delta, Copa...no luck :/ Any advise from the forum will be great;y appreciated! Also, if you happen to know the answer, why is it cheaper to go to Argentina and double the price to leave?
Thank you in advance for your response.

Puertas Cerradas  (1 Answer)

Hi, I recently came across an article talking about this underground restaurant scene in Buenos Aires called puertas cerradas where the chef will open up their homes and run a restaurant on some nights of the week. This sounds really interesting and I would like to try something like that. Has anyone ever been to one? I can hardly speak any Spanish, do you think this might be an issue? Would love to hear your experiences and recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

learning Tango  (2 Answers)

Hi!
my boyfriend and I want to visit Buenos Aires for about 10 days in early February next year.
We want to explore the city and also some other parts of the country. and of course: WE WANT TO DANCE.
We would call ourselves "advanced beginners", we do not have the ambition to ever become expert dancers. We just LOVE the music and the dance and want to improve our dancing.
Question: which tango schools or workshops could be recommended? what are there terms? opening hours? prices?
thanks a lot for your help!

Is June or July an okay time to visit?  (4 Answers)

Hi Everyone,

I'm stuck between traveling to Cuba or Bueno Aires (Argentina) this summer during June or July.

Is the month of June an okay time to visit Argentina?

I'm thinking that the winter season may not be the best time to check out Buenos Aires.

Please let me know what you folks think.

floralis generica at night

Hi,

I would like to see the Floralis Generica (at Plaza de las Naciones Unidas) when it closes at dusk, but I'm not sure whether it is too dangerous to do it by myself, as it means standing around in a park with a camera in the dark...

What are your toughts? Are there many people on the streets in this area? Is it a dangerous neighborhood? Thanks in advance!

good buffet breakfast in Buenos Aires  (2 Answers)

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a hotel in Buenos Aires that has a good buffet breakfast. It should be located close to a metro station. Budget is up to around 90 US$ per night for a single room. I really love breakfast, but in South America, it's very hard to find a good buffet breakfast (croissants, bread, cereals, fruit and yoghurt would be appreciated).

I am thinking of the Ibis Buenos Aires Obelisco, as the Ibis chain has good buffet breakfast in Europe. Is it similar in Buenos Aires? Thanks for your answers!

luggage storage for a few hours in AEP? or the shuttle station in city center?  (1 Answer)

Hello,

My plane arrives BA at 9:10am in EZE this Saturday, then I need to fly out from AEP at 3:55pm. I plan to use a few hours to visit the city center also find a good place to eat, etc, but I have a big suitcase with me.

1. does AEP have lockers or counters that I can store my luggage for a few hours? (it's too early to check in if I go directly to AEP after arriving EZE).

2. I heard that the shuttle from EZE to AEP actually stops in the city center en route, does the shuttle station in the city center have lockers or counters that I can store my luggage for a few hours? so that I can tour the city center and eat, then take the shuttle to AEP.

3. what is the estimate cost of one way shuttle from EZE to AEP? then AEP to city center? and about how much time of each trip, on a Saturday?

4. how often do the shuttles run?

Thanks a lot.

Price on transportation from the international airport  (7 Answers)

Hi,
We are going to Buenos Aires in March and I have asked our hotel (situated in San Telmo) what they charges for picking us up in the airport.
They want 180$ and tells me that the same transportation with taxa is approx. 200$.
Does anyone know if this is correct?
Thanks
Marianne

Left luggage - where?  (3 Answers)

Dear firends,
I expect to arrive in BA on 17/02 by 8 am. The hotel I am staying at allows for check in not earlier than 2 p.m. This means that we have several hours to spend with our big suitcases which is rather inconvinient. Can you advise me where to leave the luggage for a couple of hours and take a first walk in BA without the heavy luggage? The same issue stays for the departure day - check out is at 11 am, departure flight is late in the evening. Thanks in advance!

Layover between AEP and EZE - where to sleep?  (4 Answers)

Hi all,

my wife and I arrive at AEP (aeroparque) airport at 11.50 pm and have to be at EZE (pistarini) airport at about 5.30 am the next day. Small particularity: it'll be the 31st of Dec. :-)

Would you suggest staying in a hotel near AEP (we already found one) or would you rather take a taxi (or better a remise?) to EZE and stay there for the night? I assume there will be quite a chaos around on sylvester. We already thought of staying awake but I think neither AEP area nor EZE is a place to go out.

Thanks for any idea!

A friend of mine was in La Boca 2 years ago and came across an art gallery and is trying to remember the name or find a website. I know it might be a long shot, but does anyone have any suggestions of names please? She had seen some nice paintings and would like to see if she can order one online.

Thanks

books in Buenos Aires  (11 Answers)

Hello, I'm from Buenos Aires and new to this forum.
I study English and one of the things that I do is to watching didactic videos in this language.
Teachers in those lectures suggest to read books that It's not possible to find in the local market.
I was wondering if an American comes here to Bs.As, if it could be possible for that person to carry a couple of books with him/her
I would pay to this person some money for helping me with this... maybe 50% of the normal price for the shipping.
I try this because the shipments very often costs more than the books!
Thanks in advance for any answer!
Cheers!

Anyone visited BA in 2011? We are staying in centre near Florida Street and looking for a good tango show we can either walk to or be picked up by venue.
Not interested to eat there but drinks are must
