Buenos Aires

AEP flight connection time (between Aerolineas and LAN)

I consider booking tickets flying in AEP (from Iguazu) at 12:05pm on Aerolineas, and flying out of AEP (to Ushuaia) at 1:45pm on LAN on the same day. 1 hour 40 mintues of connecting time. Do I have enough time under normal circumstances to connect flights?

Basically how efficient is Aerolineas in AEP? Do they have frequent delays or slow luggage handling? (I need to claim my baggage from Aerolineas and then check it in to LAN, by the way.)

And when do LAN shut their baggage handling not allowing any more check-ins?

I had a problem before in Australia when the airline close the door one-hour before the flight, while in US domestic flight usually you can still check-in bags 30-45 minutes before the flight.

So I want to make sure that I give myself enough time for the connection.

thanks very much,

Hi Guy,
Under NORMAL conditions you should have no trouble. Let the airline people know that you have to make a flight and they will advise you how to proceed. The falls are great are they not? Were you able to cross over to the Brazilian side without a visa? They let us during the day, but would not let us cross at night so we missed the nightlife on the other side.

PS: Argentina is my favorite country and I have been from the falls to TDF and all points inbetween.

Aerolineas is not very reliable. It's not unusual for them to be late or cancel a flight. Under normal circumstances, you should be able to make the connection, because the airport is small and easy to maneuver. It would be easier if you were flying LAN from Iguazu.

Under normal circumstances it is no problem. But what is normal with Aerolineas Argentinas ?? Just hope for you they are flying (on time).

Hi there

in my 8 months in Argentina I must have taken about 20 internal flights with Aerolineas and only one of those flights was delayed (wonderful compared to the haphazard internal flights in the UK). So on my experience I would say that 1 hour 40 is fine. AEP is a great airport - modern and easy to get through. Enjoy your time there.
