Cash passports

I am going to Bora Bora from the Uk and am lead to believe that I can load one of these cards with sterling and withdraw local currency from an ATM or use for purchases

If you check out [original link], they do a Global card. You load it with GBP and then use it at any ATM that takes Visa to withdraw local currency (or charge to it, as appropriate). You can use it all over the world.

Loading the card is free; when I took mine out, you paid £10 for the card but that was then put on as balance. Withdrawals are at better than High Street exchange rates but then you pay a small forex fee.

Martin Lewis (Money Saving Expert) once rated this the 2nd best prepay style currency card but I could never understand why the no. 1 card WAS no. 1 when it had more charges to run it.

I have a Caxtonfx USD card and I have to say it suits me very well indeed. It works just the same as any other debit card, for payment, ATMs etc. No problem at all and a better financial option that using my own UK credit card (I don't take my own debit card abroad).

Caxton is still in second place after Fairfx on moneysavingexpert:

I too can't really work out why that is.........
