I am taking my 13 year old on an European trip in late May and early June.. We are flying from Atlanta Georgia USA to Amsterdan, staying there a few days and then going by train to Belgium and into Germany.. We will be staying for a few days in Boppard, and will be trying to see as much of the Reinland area as possible.. My 13 year old is a skateboarder and he is taking his board with him. He wants to skate in Europe. Is there any place to skate in the Boppard and Rheinland area? Also what are the laws or locals rules concerning street skating there? Is it allowed at all, if so where? Also he would love to hook up with some local skaters, does anyone know where they might hang out in the area?? I want him to have a great trip, but don't want any problems with the local law officials, because we don't know the rules or law. any suggestions or comments would be appreciated..
I can't think of anywhere special in the Boppard area (but I saw people skating there). However, in Sachsenhausen in Frankfurt, there are Tuesday Night Skating as per the dates in the site below:
The police then stops traffic etc. in the area.

Could be a nice daytrip since there are direct trains.
As far as I know the Tuesday night skating in Frankfurt is for inline skating only. I've seen them many times, but I've never seen anyone with a skateboard. I've also never seen anyone younger than 17 or 18.
Generally, skate boards are not allowed on the streets, theoretically at least. In real life, kids do it, however, if an accident happpens, it's partially their fault. In Frankfurt you see them on the main square, near the Hauptwache.
They used to be more common a few years ago, but lately it's inlineskating.
You could google for sports stores in the areas you want to visit and e-mail them. They might know about meeting places for skateboarders.
Great idea..Thank you, I will follow up on that...
Thank you for the comments, it has been really difficult finding anything about skateboarding in this area.. It is so popular here, I just assumed it would be elsewhere..
Aha, sorry, I got the impression it was both.
Skateboarding AND inlines are both very popular in Sweden too.
I am sorry, there is no skate park in Boppard. We only have a Mountainbike Park which you can reach by chairlift. boppard-tourismus.de/97-1-Mo...
