Looking to party a little in Columbia.

I am planning my first trip to Bogota, Columbia this May. I'm a 27 year old female, attractive, traveling with 2 friends. We really need some help. I need a local friend or seasoned traveler to help us out with the "where to go, what to do, and who to see" part. I was so excited at first about going. Then some knuckleheads on another forum told me I was stupid to think I could just go over there and just "mix" with the locals. Said I'd get robbed, assaulted, etc. Look, I'm not stupid, and I'm no sucker. I know how to handle sticky situations, and I wanted to do and see ALL the stuff that Columbia has to offer. But now I don't know. What to do??????????????

Hello party girl!!

Well, you have some really good options to party while in Bogota, here are the two main areas you´ll be visiting:

- Zona Rosa: around Andino Mall, El Retiro Mall, there are many restaurants, bars and discos in that area. Just take a taxi and tell them to take you to the Andino Mall and from there walk to any of the places I mentioned.

- Parque La 93: this is a small park and around it there are many good restaurants, bars, discos.

Don´t party alone, always go with someone, the prices at the places I mentioned are high, some discos may charge about 15 dollars just to get in.

Additional to what is already posted do not miss Andres Carne de Res, it is a high end place in the outskirt of the city but well worth the money. Only open for party Friday and Saturday, a taxi will get you there 30 minutes from town and there are taxis to take you back. It has been highlighted in several international magazines, difficult to describe but very good. Arrive early (9 ish). If you can afford it, go for it. A night there should be around 30USD, not getting to drunk. Buy by the bottle and not by mixed drinks and it might be cheaper.

dont even worry about the security bit just as long as you use a little common sense, but do that the second you speak english every knows you are not from their country and that you probably have money. Just something to keep in mind. The club circuit is definitly worth checking out starting with the Zona Rosa where the clubs
are. Everything is quite nice and chic so dress up. Dont worry bout the bad press and have a good time
