Has anyone traveled the road from Zajecar in Serbia to Belogradchik? If so what is the road like. I'm intending to travel that route in early December to see Belogradchik fortress but I have very limited time so would like to know how long it is likely to take me.
I might not be the one to answer, but I did travel to Belogradchik twice within 2 weeks and can't remember any major problem, this was in May 2010. I loved the area there is a lot to see. I hope someone can give you more details but I really don't remember anything I was concerned about. I also did not come from Zajecar but the first time was from Serbian area, I would have to rack my memory or find my notes.
Would you describe the roads as being mountainous or just rural/hilly?
From Memory, big hills or small mountains, take your pick. Really I think they were quite good.
Thanks, very helpful.
Again not very familiar with exactly this road but I traveled from the main road Montana-Vidin and when we turned to Belogradchik (about 20 km from Ruzhinci) the road was bad with holes. So I suppose it continue the same to the border. Don't think that there are big pits but it's not pleasant. Anyway, I think you won't need more than one hour from the border. But the rocks are worth to be seen so go anyway!
Thanks, also very helpful.
Once again, thanks both.
