I sit in my ome town of Skerries, Ireland, planning my trip to Maine in two weeks time. Its a cool autumn evening here but at least we're not getting the really awful weather part of the east coast US is getting. We've booked 1 night in Portland after our drive from Boston and I'm looking very closely at Belfast as our week long destination. Ideally, we want to rest, relax and just enjoy. My husband likes his ales and brew beers and we've noticed that there is brewery outside the town. Can anyone tell me how many (decent?) pubs there are? I've noticed loads about places to get food which is great, but we also enjoy a quiet drink in local pubs, ideally those that serve local ales and beers. Also, roughly, how far is Belfast driving from Portland? And finally, does anyone know of any local places where we might rent for a week? We're still planning so this might all change! Any help you can give would be very gratefully received. Much obliged in advance Mary
