My husband and I have a stopover for a night in Belfast at the beginning of May.
Arriving in Belfast at 9pm leaving at 11am.
1) What good area should we stay in to be able to walk around at night and be able to feel the city/have a good drink?
2) What can we visit? (I've seen the Titanic museum is pretty popular but they're not opened that late...)
3) Should we rent a car or would public transportation be more convenient?
4) Do US citizens need a special Visa?
any inexpensive places to stay
Hi All, I am visiting Belfast on a Cruise Ship and would like to go to Giant Causeway under my own steam rather than an excursion. I have about 6 hours. Is this doable and if so advice please.Tia.
Has anyone taken the hop on hop off belfast tour. I have an option of either walking the destinations/taking a metro bus day card/hop on hop off. Which one do you think is a better choice? Thanks in advance.

I want to travel from Belfast via the Antrim coast road to Portrush in March 2013; can anybody tell me how to do this by public transport (bus or train) and where to find the right information on the internet?
I was just wondering anyone's thoughts on the University of Ulster and Belfast as a place to study abroad. I've seen many posts on visiting, but wondered if people had different opinions when it comes to staying there and to be even more specific, studying at the University of Ulster.
Any and all opinions/advice is welcome!
Hi everyone. I'm in the process of organising a trip to Northern Ireland in February that should give me three full days to sightsee. I've allocated one and a half days to Belfast, one day to Coleraine and the Giants Causeway (weather permitting) which leaves me with an extra half day to plan. I'm looking for somewhere not too far from Belfast, easily accessible by public transport, where I can visit some places of interest eg. castles, ruins, museums or areas of natural beauty. I am considering Carrickfergus, there seems to be a nice castle and museum there. Hs anyone been to Carrickfergus? Is it worthwhile visiting? Or does anyone have any better suggestions on how to spend my time? Thanks in advance.
Thanks to all of you who replied to my previous question. Since I'll be staying in Belfast for 2 full days the last week of Feb/first week of March, I know I won't have enough time to see everything, so what would you recommend that I see while I'm there? I know very little of the city so any tips are more than welcome!
Are there any parts of town a female solo traveler should avoid, both in terms of sight-seeing and staying at hotels?

Hi folks, I posted a question a while back about restaurants in Belfast and I got some good responses. Unfortunately, when I tried to book many advised that they would have their Christmas menu on and were booked for the night of Sat, Dec 4th. Ten Square incl. So, we're back to square 1. Anyone know any decent Chinese Restaurants in Belfast City Centre that won't break the bank? Cheers and thanks in advance.
As in an earlier post, I mentioned we're visiting 3 - 5th December. One of our group is a real ale lover and I'm trying to work out if there are any pubs/inns in Belfast city centre where he might sup and enjoy! I know there are some on the outskirts of the city, but any right in the heart of Belfast?
We've just booked our annual visit to the Christmas Fair in Belfast. However, this year, we're bringing friends with us. Whilst we're ok to eat on the go in the evenings, they'd prefer to sit and enjoy. Last year we had real problems getting into any half decent restaurants the first weekend in December. This year, we'll be there 3 - 5th December and wonder if anyone has any recommendations. We're looking for something that'll cover all tastes e.g. chicken wings to steak, maybe lasagne to curry!! I figure we'll be book tables for both nights this time around. We're staying in the city centre. Re price -we're looking mid range, not top end! Really appreciate any suggestions.
Working in the Armagh area. 29 year old American female. Planning on taking a trip into Belfast. Any cool things to see or do, places to shop, churches, restaurants, etc.---that aren't too "touristy?" Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
We were planning a day trip from Dublin in Novenmber - but I recently read that there was some problem with the rail tracks north of Dublin.
I was looking for advice from the VT fraternity on the following:
- Is a day enough to get the main sights in Belfast?
- Would it be better to take the bus or train from Dublin?
- Once in Belfast, would we need any bus/transport pass/tickets, or could we walk to most of the sights?
- Would it be OK to walk Falls/Shankill, or is cab the recommended mode?
Appreciate any inputs!
What are the chances of finding parking on a Saturday around:

I'm looking for a good fish (in sense of seafood - not fish & chips) restaurant in Belfast.
I spotted 2 in the city guide (Mourne Seafood Bar & Tedford's) but neither seem to be open on a Monday evening, and that's when I'll be there!
Any ideas anyone?

I have been studying The Troubles in Belfast and as I will be staying in Belfast next week I would like to take a walk to see the separation barriers, murals and gates.
I am not interested in any kind of tourist tour, all I am looking for is the best walk from my hotel (Springfield Road) maybe for one or two hours.
I thought about going from Springfield Road to Falls Road and from there to
Short Strands. Would this be the best walk in order to see most of the barriers, gates and murals?
Thank you so much for your advice !
I will be in Belfast next Wednesday night and I am looking for a good pub which is not overprized, maybe with a happy hour.
Something traditional with many locals would be great.
I will arrive to Belfast quite late (10 pm) and I am staying at the
Farset International (Springfield Road).
It does not matter if the place is not too close to the hotel as I am thinking about going out for a drink straight from the City Airport.
Thank you for your advice!

Will be in Belfast this weekend and I see that Ireland are playing Leicestershire at Stormont on Sunday so though I might go and see the game. I don’t want to buy a ticket in advance in case the weather is bad or I decide I want to do something else. Does anyone know if the ground gets full for Ireland games or if tickets are likely to be available on the gate.
