Barking Town

Watching the World Cup on a BIG SCREEN in Barking Park

I heard a rumour that permission had been granted to show every match in the 2010 World Cup on an enormous screen in Barking Park in East London. There is nothing whatsoever about this on the net. Does anybody know whether the rumour is true and if it is will it be free, what's the deal etc etc.

Sounds rather unlikely to me. I wonder if the rumour has been conflated from news about the Barking community TVs:

barking-today.co.uk/tn/news....

and the 'World Cup Carnival' at Shepherds Bush Pavilion:

worldcupcarnival2010.com/ind...

?

It will probably rain anyway, so go down the pub!

or, if the rumour is true, some busybody is already working to have it banned.
