Solo traveler- looking for friends

Hello, I am planning to visit Bangkok for Songkran 2017 (April 13-16) and I will be traveling alone.. Are there any locals on here that live there or will be there around that time that could possibly show me around?

I hope you are not flying long distance just for 3 days in Thailand.

Songkran is not a spectator holiday! If you are near some of the big celebrations you will get soaked! This means you should have wallet, cell phone, any electronics in a plastic bag. You walk around with an uncovered thousand dollar camera you could still be splashed with water!

Some tourists rent companionship from a Nana or Asoke beer bar.

Bangkok is an easy city to get around in. Just three days perhaps one suggestion is to choose a hotel in the Nana area. Walk to restaurants, beer bars and BTS Skytrain. (From Suvarnabhumi Airport you can use the Airport Rail Link to connect with the Skytrain and walk to hotels in this area.)

First day you can negotiate a shared tour from your hotel tour desk (if they have one) or a local travel agency. Following day the tour company will get you from your hotel and bring you back. On shared tours you may meet other tourists. But you can have a nice time if no one guides you!

Read up on scams to avoid. Know how to get from the airport (Don Muang is another airport in Bangkok) and maybe pick up a travel guide too. Change your money in Thailand for best return.

Stay longer if you can.

Good luck.

Walk into any Bar in the Nana District. Hold up a 1000 ThB note in your hand. You will be instantly surrounded by many attractive "Friends" willing to take you anywhere and do anything. Hold onto your wallet. In fact leave your Wallet, Passport and most of your Cash money in the hotel Safety Box. Get a local Photo Shop to digitize, reduce in size & plasticize your Passport ID Page in colour. Get 2 copies done. Always a carry this reduced size passport ID Card and a daily amount of cash. That way you can't be ripped off too bad. Have fun!
