If staying for two days before departing, which one would you prefer?
Can members advise from their experience of actually visiting, can they advise ...
if they could spend two or three days in each --- what is their top three locations.
There are so many locations around the island it would be good to get feedback. I shall stay close to airport on first and last day of trip but will go anywhere which is recommended from there
I've (25, Male) been thinking of doing a quick solo trip to Bali at the end of this year. Basically would want to fly out of here (Melbourne) on the......back in time for work/the new year
I think I'm opting more for a relaxing period as I've been in Melbourne during this holiday period my whole life, being from Melbourne you can imagine the partying that would've been done.
Ideally in my head it's...soak up the Sun all day every day I would be there, get to know Bali a bit more. Then night time I guess would speak for itself
This would be me traveling solo for the first time
-Is this an okay time to fly out?
-Anyone here thinking of doing the same?
-Is it possible to choose activities to do whilst I'm there, and not necessarily have to pre-plan/organise them here?
-Anything you guys would suggest/advise/advise against?
-Anything you may think I need to know, I'm all ears
I'm planning my trip to Bali this december. 10 days. I'm looking for the best waterfalls, villages, beaches in Bali. I hate tourism: what I'm looking for is to enter in contact with locals. I'm a videographer and I'd like to shoot locals living their life, child playing in the paddies.. that kind of things. I wanna capture the real face of Bali.
Can anyone help me? Thank you!
any special things/ideas/places to take my boyfriend for his birthday near by or in seminyak?
Hi… if you are eligible for the free entry stamp…and then overstay by couple of days…is it treated the same way as an overstay of paid VOA…and no hassle just Rps 300,000?…or is this different when you have no official visa stamp?
Hey everyone, I am in the process of planning my trip to bali and I am up to our travels in Bogor. After our activities in Bogor we are planning on going to yeh Sanih water springs and then carrying on to stay in Singaraja. I've been looking everywhere online to find out how long it will take to ride (we are travelling on motorbike) from Bogor to Singaraja and have so far found that apparently it will take short of 24 hours. After finding this out I aimed to reserve a taxi to get there quicker and the estimated price seemed to come up with about a £1 in GBP... I see that this can't be right, so I need to know if anyone here has done this route, if it really takes 24 hours and the best way to get there? I'd prefer to not spend a day on the bike is all, especially as I created this plan so the next place we was going would always be close to the previous place. Thank you in advance!
Hi there, I am looking for a Pemuteran based private driver that could takes us from DPS Int'l to Pemuteran at the beginning of our Bali-Photo-Trip in Sep 2016: when 'the price is fair' we consider hiring the same driver for further half-day trips (basically photoshoots & UW-Photoshoots in Western Bali).
Txs for your comments
PS we're 2 passengers and quite some gear... (sedan or mini-van will do... ;-) )
hi, i will be in bali from 16.03.-31.03.2016. i want to go to gili for diving for 8-10days. where to get a ticket for fast boat? which gili is the best for diving and good accommodation (female, alone)?
Ok so we have decided to stay 5/6 nights in Ubud and then 5 nights on either Gili Air or Gili T, we will then spend another night or 2 back on Bali before our flight back home. So any thoughts on Gili Air or Gili T? I really like Manta Dive shop on G.A. but am open to suggestions.
Also are electrical outlets american or european there?
My wife and I are planning on visiting Bali in Sep, we are planning on staying in Ubud for a week and then somewhere else for a week. 2 questions, for our second week we want to stay in a beach area with good snorkeling and diving, any suggestions? Second, what would be the easiest/cheapest way to get there and then back to the airport?
Hi guys, just wondering if it was better for me to get some exchange AUD to USD and take them to Indonesia, or simply use the Australian dollars and exchange them there to Rupphia. Which one do you think is the best choice?
Hi there. I am travelling alone in Bali over Christmas. I haven't yet booked any accommodation or decided where to go/where to stay - can anyone recommend somewhere?
As I'm travelling alone I'd like to stay somewhere sociable. Although I'm travelling alone, actually being alone on Christmas day sounds pretty ***.
Will I need to gain a Visa on Arrival when arriving October 2015
We are going to Bali in November for 2 weeks. We thought this time we would like to hire a driver and spens a week going around the island and discovering off the beaten track Bali. Can anyone re moment a driver whi speaks English, knows the whole island - beaches, villages, temples, reasonable accommodation etc and would be willing to travel for a week. Also how does charging for overnight work. How much would we expect to pay for 7 full days and nights? Is this too long to travel the island?
Hope someone can help me with this question:-)
We are 13 people (10 adults and 3 kids - age 8, 3 and 0). We would like to stay in a 5 bedroom villa in Ubud or a little bit outside Ubud. The trip is next year 2016 in June. Have looked at agoda.com and booking.com but there are not that many options for 5 bedroom villa for 13 people. I have been to Bali many times, but have never travelled in a group of 13, so therefor I do not have that much experience with private villas with 5 bedrooms. So can any of you recommend a villa in Ubud with 5 bedrooms? We do not, at the moment, have a particually budget, but as cheap as posssile would be prefered, because we are travelling around Bali for 3 weeks.
So hope someone can help me:-) Thanks in advance.
Myself and a friend are heading to Bali at the end of this month, with the plan to stay there for around 60 days (until around xmas time). But I have still yet to decide whether to get a Tourist Visa beforehand or get our VOAs extended while we are out there. In regards to the VOA extension, do you have to leave and come back into Indonesia (and fly to say Singapore and back) or can you get the extension done without leaving Bali? Also as an additional note, I went to Bali by myself earlier this summer and got a VOA, but didn't get it extended, and left on time (I was there for 29 days). Also we both don't live far from the Indonesian Consulate in London where we would go to get our Tourist Visas.
So yes if you guys are able to help and give clarity around what you feel is the best option to go for the VOA extension or the tourist visa , such input will be greatly appreciated!
looking for recommendation for accommodation for ubud.
Any thoughts on The Lokha Ubud ?
we are planning a trip in Feb 2016. Bring a six month old. Cannot decide where to stay - Sanur, Nusa Dua or Ubud?
We would like to see a mix of everything - The beach and the land.
Hi Everyone! Will be traveling alone from Jakarta to Bali. I'm looking forward to meet other backpackers and new friends
My wife and I are due to spend about 3 weeks in Bali. We are both aged related pensioners and my last visit to a Muslim country was many years ago where alcohol was and is still prohibited. Not wishing to offend but like to have a glass or two of wine, especially with meals, I ask for advice. Not wanting to stay in 5 star hotels but prefer small guest house. Are there such places, that serve alcohol as in reasonably priced; Gin and Tonics, and wine ?
Are there off licences/ stores where wines are readily available ?
Can anyone advise on the best area for us to get a taxi to from the airport, to find such a Guest House, private facilities and hopefully a sea view. We will already have spent two months travelling so cost must be considered. We look for a; peaceful, tranquil setting but reasonably central for a few day excursions and site seeing.
Hello all - I hope you can help me.
I've recently retired (with my wife still working) and she's given me the OK to head off to Bali and take advantage of a bargain airfare (only just booked today) and to escape the chill of the Melbourne winter (were both heading the Thailand and UK in September so she's not missing out).
I would love it if someone could give some ideas on where to go, how to get there and where stay over the two week period. I'm quite happy to stay in a quite few places, or use just a couple as a base to explore.
We've been to Bali a couple of times for "vegging out" type holidays and stayed in Tanjung Benoa & Sanur - so you'll gather that we're not really into the party / bar scene of Kuta and similar places.
I'm treating this as a bit of an adventure to do things fairly simply and relatively cheaply (i.e. I'm not bothered about 4 star hotels) and am quite happy to try out homestays / Airbnb type accommodation. The only real criteria being quiet, clean & comfortable with food provided or nearby.
I arrive fairly late on Saturday evening so though I might spend a couple of nights in Sanure as it is fairly close to the airport and I know the area.
Thanks for any help - although I accept it is on short notice.
Hi, I'm staying at the above resort with my mum for 8 nights, are we in a comfortable walking distance to Tahn Lot, and are there any markets closer to the resort also how much should I expect to pay to get to Kuta and back??
Thanks for your help.
I am travelling to bali next month and one of my main things to do is visit a black sand beach. can anyone recommend any to visit?
hi guys, can you suggest a trendy beachfront place to stay which caters to a younger crowd and is within a stones throw to bars, discos n restaurants. I'm not looking to break the bank but will settle for a decent 4-5 star such as hard rock sheraton etc. also please recommend which area I should choose to stay. I'm traveling solo n will be in Bali for about 5 nights. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Hi all, It seems hiring a private car / tour guide+driver is the best way to go around Bali. I am arriving to the airport early 8am in March 7 and departing about the same time in March 10, so that leaves me with three full days of sampling the island. I have already booked accommodations in Ubud, Nusa Dua and Kuta. My question is with transportation and if it is feasible to get a driver (or at least the same booking serivce) for the duration of the trip, and a rough estimate of the costs? Would be great to get contact details of drivers you've tried so I can start inquiring too.
My route and estimated travel time is as follows:
Day 1: Airport (8am pick-up)) >> Tirta Gangga >> Ubud hotel (3pm drop-off) -- halfday trip
Day 2: Ubud hotel (10 am pick-up) >> Taman Ayun >> Tanah Lot >> Nusa Dua hotel (4pm drop-off) - halfday trip
Day 3: Nusa Dua hotel (1pm pick-up) >> Kuta hotel (should I take taxi instead, and how much?)
Departure: Kuta hotel (6:30am pick-up) >> Airport (should I take taxi instead, and how much?)

My husband and I are going to Bali & Lombok / Gili in April 2015.
1) Maybe do you know, how we can get from the port in Lombok (Lembar) to the North area in Lombok? :)
Here is map what I mean:
2) If we get off the boat (cheaper one: ) in Lombok at 01:00 am or 7:00 am - do you know is there any buses which can takes us to Nothern area of Lombok?
2a) If yes, do you know where I can find time of departures this buses and prices? ;)
(We hear that is better to avoid taxi drivers and thats why we prefer buses)
3) Or how to get from Lombok to Gili?
I will extremely thankful for you for any information :)
Kind regards! :)
