Arriving Amsterdam late Thursday need a cheap place to stay one night

Alright I am flying into Amsterdam at 2000 hrs on a Thursday evening. I need a cheap place to shower and get a few hours sleep before catching the next morning train to Maastricht.. I am not that picky just want a place to lock my luggage and not be bothered with worrying about it. Oh and it will be the first Thursday in June so its not a last minute thing

I have stayed at the Ibis Budget very close to the airport. Complimentary shuttle from and to the airport, you might take a look at the link, put in your travel date and see what they can offer in the way of price. IMO it was a great place to stay prior to my flight the next morning.

Robert, there's a Yotel right at the airport but I'm guessing you want to be closer to Centraal Station?

Take a look at Hotel Luxer or Ibis (Stationsplein 49), for starters.

Editing as I see yvr recommended the Ibis as well. Accommodation rates can swing a lot depending on what's going on in the city so you'd have to plug in your dates to see what comes up.

To be honest, nowhere in central Amsterdam or Schiphol is what I'd call 'cheap'.

Schiphol Yotel is airside and does not allow checked baggage (the airport has plenty of left luggage storage), so I suspect it won't be feasible if you want to go into Amsterdam for a while after you've showered and slept. Not sure if you'd be allowed through security twice?

Otherwise, look at to see what's available on your dates at what price. It's mapping is excellent. I've found the Amsterdam Ibis to be quite pricey in comparison with other hotels near Centraal.

I've just looked at for a random June Thursday and the CitizenM hotel at the airport has a reasonable rate of 125 euro (non-refundable but as you're flying maybe that doesn't matter?), the Ibis Styles opposite Centraal (not the Stationsplein one) has 139 euro and the Budget Hotel Liberty on Singel (less than 5 mins walk from Centraal) has 105 euro. Most hotels are showing as full for June simply because it's too far in advance for hotels to be willing to set their rates.

You might look at too Lots of hostels now have separate rooms (some en suite) as well as dormitories though, again in my own experience, if you are a solo traveller a separate hostel room is rarely cheaper than a hotel room because they are generally priced per person.

The last train from Schiphol to Maastricht departs at 10:18PM from the Airport. When you arrive at 8PM it must be possible to catch this train.

Think about another option. There are night trains running all night each hour and they can bring you as far as Utrecht. You might find an cheaper place to spend the night there.

The Ibis I suggested in my post above charges 65 euro for the night in question. That's a pretty good rate as compared to the prices in a couple of posts above. I would also agree with pieter_jan_v that if you can catch the 2208 departure your best of doing that and get to where you want to go rather than staying at or near the airport. Your also liable to find better prices in Maastricht. Check this web site to see prices for your date.

I think it will be no problem to get the 9:18PM Intercity train to Maastricht; this train arrives at Maastricht just after Midnight.
