I will be arriving in Pago Pago three weeks from tonight and have no idea what to do once I get there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I do not even know where I will be spending that first night. I plan to spend a few days in (Western or Independent) Samoa but my primary reason for going is that, other than Puerto Rico, American Samoa is about the only part of America which I have not visited.
Thanks again for any help which anyone is willing to offer.
I doubt if it's changed much since I was there. You'll be landing on the main island of Tutuila. Pago Pago is the main village/town area. There are just a few places to stay there, shouldn't be too difficult to find them all online. I found that the locals are pretty friendly and helpful so ask where you book to be picked up at the airport.
[original link] I stayed at Barry's B&B on the west end of the island and took the local jitney into Pago Pago when I wanted to do some shopping. You'll have to check to see if he's still open. It's a house up a quiet road, nothing fancy.
I don't know what it's like now but when I was there the Rainmaker Hotel was an overpriced dump.
Because it's an American territory a phone call is not considered international, so you can call as if you're calling another state.
