Put 'almelo' into the searchbox top right of this page and you will find tips about what to see/do etc written by VT locals and visitors.

How far to Germany really depends on where you want to go. As the crow flies the German border is about 20-25km away.

For train times and details in English look at

which carries data for almost all European trains.

Sorry, but I started laughing seeing the subject.

There is a famous line by a local comdedian saying: Soms is het stoplicht rood, soms is het groen; in Almelo is altijd wat te doen.

Free translation: Sometimes the traffic light is red, sometimes it's green; there is always something going on at Almelo.

There are a number of jewelry shops at Almelo:
Brummer Jr BV Juweliershuis
Grotestraat 71, 7607CD Almelo

Berendsen Juwelier
Grotestraat 23, 7607CB Almelo

Arman Goud- en Zilveratelier
Ootmarsumsestraat 273, 7603AD Almelo

Groenland Juwelier
Passage 6, 7607CE Almelo

Oldeman-Schut Juwelier
Oranjestraat 7, 7607BH Almelo

Star Gold Juwelier
Grotestraat 153/A, 7607CJ Almelo

I have no idea if these shops have the Charlotte jewelry, but a number of shops is located close to ech other, so if you do some window shopping, you will know it within 15 minutes.

Almelo is about 30 km from the German border.

For the rest you are looking for (shops, attractions and restaurant) start at:

If you give some more info (is this just a day trip for you and from where?) we might be able to help you better.

It's typically Dutch to play down what you've got @ PJ

Almelo may not be one of the quaintest towns in The Netherlands but the area is quite beautiful.
If you have time, go cycling, enjoy the rural landscape (ever so slightly rolling), see the farms...
pieter_jan_v should be able to tell you about the beauties of his surrounding area!

I even can go on a cycle trip with tlhgah18 and add some undiscovered VT territory to our map.
