Looking for a memorable international trip (im from the US) im March of next year for Friends birthday.
Both low 30s. Looking for location with warm weather, maybe beach, large enough city nearby to go out for night of drinks, but that has sites to see.
Looking for maybe 10 days. Considering Capetown, Dubai. What other locations would be suggested?
Note: have previously gone to Thailand, Canary Islands, Mexico during this time, so want something different.
Thanks in advance
It's not international and certainly not as exotic as South Africa, Thailand or the United Arab Emirates, but Hawaii has its best weather in March. Spring is the best time to visit the islands - it's at the end of the rainy season so there won't be too much rain to contend with, but it's before the tradewinds die down and the temperature and humidity go up. Think low 80s during the day and upper 60s at night. It's also off-season, so airfares and hotel rates will be less and there will be fewer tourists to get in the way.
Hi Ray,
Dubai is pretty warm year-round, so that is a good option. Egypt or Morocco are also good options if you're interested in North Africa. Most of Southeast Asia is pretty warm as well - Indonesia or Malaysia are good options if you've already been to Thailand.
South America will be nearing the end of summer / starting fall at that point so Argentina, Chile or Brazil (parts of it) are good options as well. Enjoy!
Hey! Have you considered Sicily? Its certainly not Dubai or Miami but here you could stay in 5 star hotels for the same price (or less) than a 1 star in other places. The water will not be warm enough to swim but the average temperature is about 55 during the day. Maybe not warm enough for you, I don't know. But Province of Palermo, Catania and Trapani are beautiful towns with lots of sightseeing and coast nearby so not a bad option. Have fun whatever you do!

Australia ! Go see the barrier reef (from Cairns or Port Douglas) and relax on the beach in the North, visit Ayers Rock, check out the Opera house in Sydney and chill in

Of Course, Hawaii. The Caribbean. You cannot count on California but you can go slightly exotic and go to Jamaica or Bermuda.

Dubai is certainly very different and a great choice for March. The weather is near perfect then, warm but not too hot and there are plenty of outdoor activities to do in the emirate and the rest of the country such as hot air ballooning, dune bashing, dhow cruises in Musandam Governorate just across the border, scuba diving etc. along with a great restaurant and night life scene.
The Dubai World Cup - the world's richest horse race and a fantastic party - also takes place at the end of March and there a lot of art activities in town as well during this time.
South East Asia is also a great choice, somewhere like Cambodia or Vietnam or even South America. I went to Peru, Chile, Ecuador and Brazil in March a few years ago and enjoyed beautiful weather and plenty of stuff to see and do.
Iran in March has an excellent weather, also Iranian New Year named "Nowrouz" is on the 21st of March that they celebrate with their traditional customs. There are many historical and natural sites to see and explore in Iran. Locals are very hospitable and I guess it can be a memorable trip for you. Although drinking alcohol is not legal in Iran.
Not sure what you're looking for but the Var region in the south of France is usually pretty pleasant that time of year. My favorite town there by far is Aix-en-Provence which is land locked but there are tons of beach towns like Saint-Tropez, Bandol, Monaco that are great places to party but also have enough going on during the day that you won't be left wondering what to do (or, at least, are close enough to other, bigger places).

I think Halong bay is suit with your needs. Hạ Long Bayhas many beautiful and small lovely beaches, it has cave exploring, kayaking through villages, drinking on cruises, hiking, biking. Almost any types of explorations are presented in Halong Bay.
How about southern Europe? I always enjoyed the mix of beach and city in Barcelona, but early March might be a little cold if you want to spent most of your vacation at the beach. Besides that, there are plenty other things to do, you can even take a trip to the Pyrenees and go hiking, wich are close by.
I suggest you to spend 6 day in Istanbul, Cappadocia and Ephesus and spend 4 days in the beautiful coast of Mediterranean in Fethiye

Hello, I am from Panama so I recommend it as your travel destination. It's warm in March with plenty of places to go check out. Beaches in the Atlantic and Pacific side of the country...doesn't take long to get to either side. We use dollars and a lot of the younger generation know english. Enjoy whatever you may go!
Ray, my favorite spot is Tamarindo Costa Rica ! Tamarindo We have traveled a lot and keep coming back to CR. We do not do the all inclusive's. A hotel near the beach and rent a SUV to go to the nearby National Parks, water sports up and down the coast and exploring the mountains. I just learned that Southwest flies to CR. Tamarindo is the Cancun of CR. Lots to do. International destination - we met surfers from Brazil and German hikers.
Hi Ray,
This sounds like it will be fun! I suggest Barcelona for a warm place (but not too hot). The beach is amazing, and the nightlife is equally impressive. Plus, it's easy to fit in some history/sightseeing if you want to.
Enjoy!
if you could take it back to February, Hawaii is off-season rates. Still may be worth check in March. Sometimes rainy ,but short showers. I had good luck w Northwest Air .
Maybe come to Australia and visit Adelaide for the Festival of Arts http://www.adelaidefestival.com.au/ as well as
Buenos Aires should also be nice that time of year.
I'd look into Curacao. My wife and I have been all over the world and simply fell in love with this place. Has great nightlife and its warm water so unlike Cape Town which is amazing as well you can swim comfortably in the ocean.
Well, quite honestly I love staying right here in the USA going to Las Vegas. There are a lot of things to see & do out there that people would number one think of casinos. Well the casinos there are like none I had seen being from Connecticut. They are huge & have a tremendous amount of shops, restaurants, entertainment, upscale merchants & lower priced merchants. Art museums, wax museums, live animals, aquariums, the Hoover Dam, helicopter rides from just over the city to the Grand Canyon National Park, magic acts, musicals, comedy & hypnosis, what a place! A lot of entertainment & things to do are also free or reasonably priced. I have been there probably 6 times & still haven't seen everything & in the past 4 years there have been tremendous changes on the strip. Old Vegas is a blast, classic looking casinos & hotels. Fremont Street is a gas. March is a good time to go because by early May & June it is quite hot. Wherever you decide to go have a great time.
