Is it better to camp or stay in a lodge in Zion park in October?

Hi,

My boyfriend and i are planning a trip to the states, we had a route and everything.. And planned to go to Zion on October 3rd for a night and another night at Grand Canyon.

We planned on camping.. Is it possible weather wise?

Or should we get a lodge?

Thanks!

If you are here for just one night I would recommend staying at Cable Mountain Lodge http://www.cablemountainlodge.com/. It is situated at the park entrance and will save you parking fees... a great option for dayhiking. Weather can be unpredictable. My boyfriend and I stayed here 2 nights and never made it into the park due to severe rainstorms, but had a great time anyway.

Hello Orel,

It can be quite cold at night at Zion National Park in October. If you have the proper gear camping would be fine but if not then a lodge would be best. If you're there for only one day the best trail there is Angel's Landing. You would need to leave early if planing to hike it since it's long and strenuous. I promise even though it'll be a work out some of the spots along the trail will leave you truly speechless! here is the National Park's page for the trail. http://www.zionnational-park.com/zion-angels-landing-trail.htm

Just FYI one day might not be enough once you get to either place since there is Much to see. You might consider doing at least two days in each if not more. They are both AMAZING!! I hope this helps you, have fun !
