Best free things to do in Zagreb?

I'm going to be in Zagreb next month and will be on a pretty tight budget. I'm looking for the best free and inexpensive things to check out! I love the outdoors, art, museums, you name it. Thanks!

Hello Katie, i would like to suggest you what to do in Zagreb. What to see in Zagreb, depends on your taste – but here is something for everyone. Take a ride with funicular, go to Museum of Broken Relationships or Muzej iluzija (Museum of Illusions), walk through Upper Zagreb and Ulica Ivana Tkalčića, go on the most famous market called Dolac  on saturday or sunday morning, have a coffee on flower square on saturday morning arround noon and on sunday go on Britanski trg  aka British square). There is a lot of cool street food restaurants like Mundoaka Streetfood, Bistroteka, if you like sushi go in Binimoto Sushi or Ginger sushi, if u like asian food go Umami Zagreb in Ulica Ivana Tkalčića. During the advent, Zagreb is beautiful so u can go to Ice park in Zrinjevac or have a cup of boiled wine in Kurelčeva ulica on Fuliranje, buy a souvenir in Tomićeva ulica, etc. If u have a lot of time, visit Zoološki vrt Zagreb Zoo in Maksimirska cestaor go on a Jarun Lake for a walk. Enjoy Zagreb!

Hi Katie.

We have a lot of programs going on in the city. Check at the Torist Infos Center and the main square (Jelacic Sq) and they will tell you all you need.

In December there are also Christmas markets around the city.
