Jan asked

Are there side streets going to Williams, AZ from Phoenix?

It's going to be my first time to drive in the US and I am so scared of the freeway.  Are there any side streets that I can pass going to Williams, AZ from Phoenix or there's no other way but to pass the freeway?  If there are side streets, how long is the travel time?  Thank you.

Williams (Arizona)

Yes there are always side streets, but it will take longer and be more complicated.  Basically from Williams you take AZ 89 and then US 60 to Phoenix.  It will be about 4.5 hours

Take S Perkinsville Rd and Co Rd 71 to AZ-89 S in Yavapai County
1 h 1 min (33.7 mi)

Continue on AZ-89 S to Prescott
37 min (31.6 mi)

Take Co Rd 10 to AZ-89 S
38 min (30.3 mi)

Follow AZ-89 S and US-60 E to Grand Ave in Phoenix
1 h 50 min (86.2 mi)

Using I-17 it will be much faster - only 2 hours and 45 minutes
