Mom & two teen daughters on semi-budget beach week this August. Would love to know about anything authentic, family-owned, quirky in Wildwood area or Cape May in New Jersey. Plus, since our motel is in Wildwood Crest, I would love to know one or two cheap good eats we could walk to or take out from? Btw: Kids like lots of food, Thai & Indian, for instance. Any cheap restaurants with amazing views or beachy tiki atmosphere? And... if there are any tips on activities. Is one Whale Watch cruise better than another, for instance? Stand-out local bands? Our musical tastes run very eclectic: world music, r&b, jazz. Only exception: classic rock. Thanking you very much in advance for any of your suggestions! :)
One of our favorite restaurants for breakfast or lunch is George's Place in Cape May. Very simple, almost a diner with a Greek influence. It's right on Beach Ave. In August, you might have to wait an hour to get in for breakfast. It's very popular. On the boardwalk in Wildwood you should try Sam's Pizza Palace. This is a very popular place, and, again, there will be a wait. Unfortunately, dining in Cape May is expensive, especially the places that offer a more interesting menu.
There is a place in Cape May, not near the center of town, called Harbor View Marina that is about the closest think to a tiki atmosphere that I can think of. Go off hours or check for reservations in August. Don't sit inside,,,Sit outside on the dock. The food isn't amazing, but it's a fun place to eat.
