Katie from Los Angeles asked

Best free things to do in Whitefish?

I'm going to be in Whitefish next month and will be on a pretty tight budget. I'm looking for the best free and inexpensive things to check out! I love the outdoors, art, museums, you name it. Thanks!

I am a local who loves the area! For sure go to Glacier National Park {has an entrance fee but well worth it} If you have a car drive to Polebridge for the day or camp, the saloon is fun for a beer or food. Whitefish has a great farmers market on Tuesday and Columbia Falls on Thursday. Both have great food wagons and live music. Bonsai brewery is a fun, chill atmospere.Alot of free music on weekends during happy hour. Downtown Whitefish has great shopping with cool boutiques and art galleries. Good local beach is Les Mason State Park..Must see Flathead Lake. Hiking everywhere People are very friendly, just ask. Have fun!!!

Avalanche Creek trail in Glacier National Park is a must. It is amazing. There are ziplines and hiking trails up on the ski resort and the night life is pretty fun in downtown whitefish. Always live music on the weekends. The great northern is the more rustic local type and Caseys is the more upscale type. There is a great lake for boating. The options are endless here. Great food at the golf course. Have fun on your stay.

Avalanche Creek is a great hike but it isn't exactly in Whitefish ( its about an hours drive away) and isn't really free, since you'd have to pay to get in to Glacier Park. Same with the zip lines up on Big Mountain.
