Do you listen to podcasts while traveling? Which ones and on what platforms?
Many of my road trip memories are tied to particular podcasts - like driving cross country to Denver, marathon-ing Stuff You Should Know. Stuff You Missed in History Class has been a constant for a few years now. Paul Gilmartin's Mental Illness Happy Hour is very close to my heart, but also brings back memories of very long bus journeys in SE Asia.
Others in heavy rotation:
- Andrew Zimmern/Molly Mogren's Go Fork Yourself
- Snap Judgment
- Welcome to Nightvale
- Stuff Mom Never Told You
I use Stitcher now. I just get frustrated when things don't download properly for offline listening on it. I had a whole host of Russian history ready for my summer trip to Russia and they all glitched.
The Nerdist Podcast with Chris Hardwick is really great! I also love This American Life, old episodes of the Alton Browncast, and the Dinner Party Download.
When hungry for non-music aural input, I enjoy the NPR iOS app. When I want the tech low-down, I enjoy Leo Laporte' TWiT network at twit.tv on the SwiftKey iOS app. When my tastes stray to Libertarian musings peppered with obscure R&B, no one beats Rollye James at rallye.net; she wrote her own iOS app...
I really like the following podcasts:
How Did this Get Made? - a comedy podcast with some of the cast from the league reviewing really bad movies.
Ask Me Another - quiz show
Serial - if you haven't heard about this one in the news, just google it. It just finished the first season and is worth a full listen without the weekly suspense.
i do not listen to podcasts, but want to give them a try! Currently I listen to audio book while traveling! Its my favorite down town activity!! I actually love listening much MORE than reading! I dont fall asleep (luckily since im mostly driving LOL)
I listened to Gone GIrl and The GOldfinch on my recent drives to myrtle beach :)
My go to's are
Go Fork Yourself
This American Life
Dinner Party Download
The Splendid Table
Bulletproof Radio with Dave Asprey
The Dan Patrick Show
Joe Rogan Experience
Kentucky Sports Radio
The Tim Ferris Experiment
The School of Greatness
If you like Stuff Mom Never Told You, you might also like The Guilty Feminist, a couple of comedians talking about feminist issues, funny and serious at the same time.
