What is your best one-line travel tip in practicing the 'Art of Travel'

After many hard learned lessons of how to travel, I eventually developed a style. Traveling can be an art, when you are passionate and become skilled in it.  What is it that you learned or practiced that proved to be your greatest asset while traveling?  Can be general or specific, but must be concise :)

Mine is (more of a philosophy, but it stayed with me and slowly became helpful),  "A good traveler leaves no tracks." -Chinese proverb

Plan, but don't worry if Plan A doesn't work out. Have a plan B, and be on the lookout for worthwhile things that you didn't plan for.

Don't take anything that it will break your heart to lose or that is irreplaceable. And especially for me - don't carry anything because if I have something in my hands, I will inevitably put it down someplace and leave it there.

Travel light. You can wash and buy stuff. Learn some basic phrases and words. Try to get off the beaten track by walking, renting a car, bike, motorbike. Carry a good book or eBook. Be physically fit and take care for your health by washing hands, excercising, drinking water eating healthy, sunbathing with care etc. Have a health insurance for traveling. Train your feet to use thongs or sandals whenever possible. Merino shirts and socks don't stink so quickly. Learn to not let your mood being dictated by the weather. Talk more with real people, look less on your device...

    That's actually very simple.

    "Walk"

Just walk around the streets of whichever place you're in. Talk to the people around where you're staying to find out some local places and just try to walk there or walk around when you're there.

By walking you'll notice a lot more than you would if you used a car to travel.

Ask the drivers, Airbnb host and locals you meet for food recommendations. I did that and had many authentic meals in South America and Asia.

I did that and had many authentic meals in South America and Asia. Here are 2 photos to show:

Complimentary ceviche and bread at Cormoran de las Rochas, Miguel Sanchez 72, Puerto Natales (if this is complimentary part, imagine the main course!)

General Trippy Media Shenjian bao - 4 for 6 Yuan ($1) at Yang's Dumpling, above West Nanjing Road station. Yang's has several stores throughout Shanghai but this location is less crowded. Most tourists visit the overcrowded branch at Yu Garden.
