what are the must sees for a 3 day stay next week in washington dc ?

couple medium budget love gardens and history not to mention great food !!  max in 3 full days

The nice thing about do is that most of the museums are free (basically the smithsonian ones). Given your interests go the archives, natural history and portrait gallery. Everyone is raving about the Renwick gallery now, which is next to the White House.  


Cherry blossoms are coming so you can walk around Constitution Ave and also go the US botanical gardens. Meriden Park is nice and close to where you should eat.... 


... which is the 14th and U street area. Favorites are Barcelona Le Diplomate, Estadio and Bar Pillar. There are plenty of other good area- eastern Market, union market (which is a market not an area) H street NE (that features our useless new street car) and Shaw.
