Valerie from Los Angeles asked

Best free things to do in Warrenton (Virginia)?

I'm going to be in Warrenton (Virginia) next month and will be on a pretty tight budget. I'm looking for the best free and inexpensive things to check out! I love the outdoors, art, museums, you name it. Thanks!

Old Town Warrenton (Virginia) is great to wander around and make sure you explore the side streets, there are a couple of art galleries and some nice little places to check out. Also the Old Jail Museum is fun (and free!) and there are always a couple of little old ladies dying to tell you everything about it. The Brentmoor (Mosby House) is right there too, the original home of John Mosby of the Grey Ghosts. In the surrounding areas are tons of wineries (free) and Middleburg (Virginia) is nice too, fun if you like a stroll around an old town (more art galleries). The Blue Ridge mountains and parkway are not too far and a beautiful drive on a nice day. Also there's Luray (at the foot of the mountains) with antique stores, Upperville (recommend the Hunter's Head restaurant - not expensive and they have a lovely outdoor patio to eat at) and Upperville has beautiful scenery. Hope you enjoy our area!
