Assuming you take I-85 > I-40, it's about 275 miles from Wake Forest to Waynesville (North Carolina). It'll take a minimum of 4.5 hours to drive with no traffic congestion or stops for fuel/food/rest. 
Statesville is roughly the halfway point, around 165 miles from Wake Forest. . There's a Hampton Inn:
