Virgin Gorda

Restaurants to check out

A group of friends and I are visiting Virgin Gorda for the first time.  What are the restaurants with local flavor that we must check out?

I'll just list off a few of my favorite places...

If you like seafood, The Rock Café has the best lobster in the area. Sitting outdoors among the boulders that create little terraces and private sitting areas makes for a lovely evening.

At Chez Bamboo, there’s something for every family member at this little charmer that serves up superb fish dishes and great conch chowder.

Giorgio’s Wine Restaurant is a close walk from my favorite villa and offers a beautifully cooked Italian meal on nights we’d like to give our kitchen a rest.

Order whole fish filets with hearty, flavorful sides like reds beans and rice and plantains at Thelma’s Hideout. They operate more like a dinner party than restaurant, so let Thelma know you’ll be joining them for dinner by 3 p.m.

Cow Wreck Beach Bar & Grill is a fish shack and tiki bar that serves up amazing grilled lobster for a staggeringly small sum. Order a frosty drink (or two) during busy times—the staff really does run on island time, but then again, you should be, too.

For burgers and conch fritters, head over to Willy T's —a floating bar and restaurant modeled after a Baltic trading vessel. Accessible only by boat, it’s the perfect mid-day spot for refreshments, soaking up rays, and taking an impromptu plunge into the sky blue waters.

Mentioned in this answer:

  1. The Rock Café (restaurant)
  2. Chez Bamboo (restaurant)
  3. Giorgio’s Wine Restaurant (restaurant)
  4. Thelma’s Hideout (restaurant)
  5. Cow Wreck Beach Bar & Grill (attraction)
  6. Willy T's (restaurant)
4 thanks
