C from London asked

crossing from cambodia to central vietnam

Maybe a bit optimistic but I plan to travel from the Siem Reap area up to preah vihear (to complete my string of khmer temples started years ago at Wat po in laos). From there I am looking to go east into Vietnam. So far I haven't been able to find any info on potential transport along highway 64 (which I assume would include some sort of lorries/vans used by locals). I'm guessing I'd be transiting through Krong Stung Treng then onto highway 78 which goes toward Pak Nhai on the border. Has anyone done this that can advise?

I'm expecting it to be a bit bewildering and don't speak Khmer or Vietnamese but my French is OK (in case I run into older people) and I can read some Chinese so am unlikely to starve but....... oh yes - woman travelling solo in case that makes a difference.

Thank you anyone!
