Travel with a budget, you should use public bus or train to transfer which helps you save your money. Furthermore, booking a package tour is a good idea

I would suggest a combination of train and domestic planes. Many people, especially backpackers use the Sinh Cafe busses in Vietnam, but if you do this then you travel from backpacker ghetto to backpacker ghetto and it's not a very comfortable way to travel if you ask me.

If you would like to have a local company set up an itinerary, then is a very good company that i have good experiences with.
