Heading to Vancouver and I'm looking for the best restaurants to try while I'm visiting. Open to all types of food! What are your top places to eat?
S.R. has got it down. I would just add a couple of my favourites, Fable Kitchen (almost next door to Maenam) definitely sit at the open kitchen bar; Osteria Savio Volpe (a little off the beaten track but worth it); and last but by no means least Il Giardino - an Italian staple on the Vancouver food scene for decades (same owner). Ask for Bobby, he will make sure you get a table.

I had dinner at Forage on Robson Street, it was delicious and they also have a great selection of local wines.
One approach for you would be to check the Scout 25 - just do a web search to find the site. Personal favourites of my own (that I don't see mentioned in others' answers) are La Quercia, with the tasting menu the standout, Cinara, which also has a tasting menu, Maenam Thai Restaurant, both locations of La Mezcaleria, Juniper, West, Wildebeest, and Ask for Luigi Restaurant. One meal left on earth? I'd eat it at La Quercia or maybe Hawksworth Restaurant.

Wonderful (modern) Indian food at VJ's Island Foods new restaurant on Cambie Street.
Vancouver has more than 5000 restaurants - something for every taste. Try Chambar Restaurant, Vij’s, Le Crocodile or, if you'd like to sample some Aboriginal food, Salmon n' Bannock on West Broadway. Enjoy!
