My wife and I are visiting Vancouver this summer and we'd like to check out the creme de la creme restaurants while we're there. We're really open to anything across the board as we tend to eat our way through our travels. If it helps, we'll be there for five days and staying downtown!
Vancouver is my favourite city in Canada and has fantastic food.
Staying downtown means you are within walking distance of three great food neighbourhoods: Gastown, Yaletown, and the West End Neighbourhood. Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar has the best seafood in the city in my opinion (Yaletown), and Raincity Grill has a delicious local menu.
You can also walk to a passenger ferry (in Yaletown or at the Vancouver Aquatic Centre) and take a few minutes trip to Granville Island which has great restos (like Edible Canada At The Market) as well as a beautiful produce market. A short walk up from there is Vij’s - what many people say is the best indian food in the world.
Some of my Vancouver resto recs are here: http://traveleater.wordpress.com/vancouver-appetite/ but don't forget the delicious street food!
