Gastown is Vancouver's oldest neighbourhood and is now a popular tourist area with Victorian buildings along cobblestone streets containing shops, galleries and restaurants. Granville Island (not really an island) has a large public market, theatres, unique shops, artisan workshops and galleries. Stanley Park is a huge urban park designated a national historic site of Canada. It has gardens, forests, monuments and sculptures, including nine totem poles at Brockton Point. You might be interested in the Vancouver Art Gallery. The Seawall makes for a great walk with great views of the skyline. Vancouver has a lot of public art (http://vancouver.ca/parks-recreation-culture/public-art.aspx). I have yet to visit the Vancouver Museum although it remains on my list for future visits - it covers the history of the area. Lots of great food in the city. You might want to look into food tours. Vancouver is also known for its food trucks.

For Vancouver, check into the YMCA-Langara Family YMCA. Also go to Vancouver island: there consider Tofino and Ucluelet . Then head east to Commercial Drive and the Main St/East King Edward Avenue area.

Lots to do there! I'd recommend biking or walking the sea wall around Stanley Parkand spending a day on Granville Island with its farmers market and artist studios.

For art, there is the Vancouver Art Gallery for major art shows and Museum of Anthropology, which is chock full of art. The Rennie Museum is undergoing renovation ATM, but may be open when you are here - you don't say when that is - reservations required. There is a small gallery at The University of British Columbia as well, and a few along Granville St south of the Granville Bridge. If you make it up to Whistler, there is the Audain Art Museum.

Hello Victoria,

Vancouver is so beautiful and there is so much to do but I want to say that the beauty of our city is mainly the outdoor.

Vancouver is new city meaning not as old as Belin or Rome and certainly you will not find crazy history. That been said here is a list of what I would suggest you try to visit and you will not be disappointed or may ben even you will start to love the outdoor :)

1- a nice walk around Stanley Park, one of the best parks we have in the city

2- Visit of Gastown, this is probably the oldest part of Vancouver

3- Queen Elizabeth Park

4- Museum of Anthropology at UBC

5- English Bay Beach

I would also recommend a trip to whistler, it is about 2.5 hours and the drive is absolutely amazing through we call Sea-to-Sky Hwy.

I also would recommend a day trip to Victoria and a visit to the Butchart Gardens.

I hope this will keep you busy for the 5 days you have here in Vancouver.

Must sees in Vancouver include Granville Island and Stanley Park.  Ride the tram up Grouse Grind to dine and enjoy the views.  Museum of Vancouver is fabulous as well.
