Looking for a one-week rental in Tuscany located in or very close to a small town or village that offers good dining and cafés. We want to be part of a community rather than a touristy city.
I would recommend either Volterra or Poppi. They are both smaller villages in which you feel a strong sense of community. And, if you ever want the vibe of a bigger place, they are close to cities like Arezzo and Siena -two Italian jewels!

I also really love Lucca. It's surrounded by old city walls that you can walk on top of and beside in the green space park areas around the town. It's beautiful, relaxed, and small, yet big enough that you won't see the entire town in a day, so there will be plenty to keep you busy.
