Just one note, remember that Atlanta is 1 hour ahead of Troy (Alabama). Troy is Central time, Atlanta is Eastern time.

So if your flight is 9pm Atlanta time, that's actually 8pm Troy time, which means you might want to leave around 2:30pm.

Actually, here's an interesting schedule on Trippy with a detailed itinerary for a flight from Troy to London.

It suggests leaving at 2:35pm from Troy, then this happens to include a local flight between Montgomery and Atlanta. The flight out of Atlanta is at 10pm (Atlanta time) going to London. So you can see a breakdown of every step including TSA security, getting to the gate, boarding time, taxi time on the runway, etc.

Anyway, since you're driving straight to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, I think Rosalie's answer is best, but you might want to leave at 2:30pm, drive for about 3-1/2 hours, and arrive in Atlanta around 6pm Troy time (7pm Atlanta time), giving you about 2 hours to park and check-in and get through security at the airport.

I would leave about 3:30 pm.  The driving time from Troy (Alabama) to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is between 2 hours 40 minutes (good day no traffic) and 3 hours 20 minutes.  So 3:30pm plus 3 hours and 20 minutes gets you there at 6:50 and allows time to get the car parked and be checked in two hours before your flight.  Then you will probably have enough time to go through security and be at the gate in time for boarding.
