Firas
Toledo (Ohio)
Hello trippies,
My folks are coming in town. We live in Toledo, Ohio and I want to do something for them next Friday for 4 days. I was thinking something nice within about 400 miles radius of Toledo, Ohio.
Budget wise, between $500-$1000
Its a family group with a 2 year old and 4 days travel.
I think nature and large city styles would be great.
Any suggestions/ideas are appreciated :)
Best Regards
Chicago is the obvious choice. Tremendous amount of things to do.
I also like Ohio City just outside downtown Cleveland. Restaurants, pubs, the West Side Market is WONDERFUL. Then you could also do downtown Cleveland, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, etc.
How about Niagara Falls, Ontario. You'll need passports though. It's about 75 minutes from Toronto which is a wonderful city also.
How old are they and when will this take place?

Hello Firas,
A few things come to mind with your Toledo location. You could head west, and Chicago would be a great place to spend a long weekend. Great city, great food and plenty to do. If you're looking for something a little more calm and laid back, I have really enjoyed some places north of Bay City, Michigan, around Tawas City and Oscoda County, beautiful area, but might be a bit early in the year to fully enjoy. You might also consider Lexington and Louisville. You have access to the Bourbon Trail, great history, a fascinating horse culture, very friendly people and good food. You're also only five hours from Niagara Falls, which would be a nice place for a long weekend as well. Just remember if you go through Canada, you will all need passports. This is also passport contingent, but Toronto is worth considering as well. Hope that helps!
