We're going to be in northern Malaysia for a while and want to head to Thailand afterwards. I've read that you can only get a 15-day visa going over land (versus a 30 day if you fly in). We want to stay for more than 15 days. What options do we have? Do we really have to find a way to fly in when we're so close to the border? Or are there ways to get a longer visa for an over land entrance?
Hey Tony - you can always get a 3 month tourist visa in advance, which you can use when you cross the border. If you are already in Malaysia, stop by the Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur. I did this a couple years ago - it took 1 day and approximately US $50 to process the visa.
