It's one of the best months to travel Vietnam, cause you avoid the rainy season in all parts of the country. Vietnam has 3 climatical zones and you have rainy season during several periods, all depending on what part of the country you visit, but march and april are free from rainy season and temperature is nice too.

Cambodia is Generally very hot and dry that month, but it's still better than going there during rainy season when it tends to be very muddy there.

Yes, I am thinking of just covering South Thailand and Vietnam. Really wanted to go to Cambodia but if it's too hot, then it wont be that much fun. · (0 likelikes)

April is the hottest season around 37-40 Celsius.

April in Thailand is school off season, Thai families take their children to go anywhere for holidays.

Songkran Festival from 13-15 April is one of popular events and most of the workers in Bangkok go back their hometown for family visit.

Transportation and accommodations during Songkran Fest throughout Thailand is so busy. Careful planning and advance reservations are highly recommended.

The most famous Songkran event in Bangkok is organised at Khao San Rd. It is not water sprinkling, it's water splashing and mad outdoor party.

The most famous Songkran in Thailand is organised in Chiang Mai.

    Laos has Songkran Fest too.

Tip: Choose stay in Bangkok during Songkran Fest, Bangkok will be quite and easy to visit.

But most of local restaurants and shops will be closed. You have to eat in the malls only.

Some cultural places will held the Songkran events. I visited Ancient Cityin Samut Prakarn province. Here, you will experience the Songkran celebration in the original way. (Ticket price not cheap, please see their website).

    Have a nice trip!

Hey, I checked out Songram. looks really interesting. It's similar to Holi festival back in India, but I'll be looking forward to it. Planning accordingly. Thanks for the tip. · (0 likelikes)

    Hello,

There isn't necessarily a "bad time" to go to Southeast Asia. Most of it lies in the tropics so you can expect it to be hot and humid in most places. It does depend on exactly where you go, if you get to high elevations the temperatures can be more bearable. My usual routine in SEA is to wake up early to beat the heat, have a break around the hottest time of the day, and then venture out again as the temperature begins to abate.

    Happy travels!

April in SE Asia is pretty hot and dry, but if you can handle the heat, there are many perks to traveling through the region then! Prices are much cheaper during low season, things do not get booked as easily, and there are less crowds!

*Pro tip: Thailand's best holiday, Songkran, is a huge water festival that will happen from April 13-16. The best place to be to celebrate is Chiang Mai :-)

It will be extremely hot at that time of year. You may want to focus on the more northernly parts of the region like northern Thailand (Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai), Luang Prabang (Laos) and Hanoi (Vietnam). Bangkok is going to be a steam bath!

Vietnam: April sees significantly more rain than previous months, especially towards the end of the month in the Northern and Southern regions. The coastal area remains ideal for swimming and other water-based activities. The temperature has yet to rise in the North and remains constant in the Central and the South between 25 and 33 Celcius degree.
