Places to visit in Texas for country music fans?

My fiance and I are looking to travel to Texas in 2019. We have recently visited Nashville and loved it, so looking to visit some similar places in Texas. We love country music and wanting to find some cool bars with that kind of scene! Also looking to stay at a lake house for a few nights, any suggestions for a good lake to visit?

In Austin, check out Broken Spoke for a true, historic honky tonk.  Saxon Pub and Continental Club are great venues as well with talented musicians taking the stage.  While in Austin, you're only an hour from New Braunfels / Gruene with another historic dance hall, Gruene Hall, with live music.  Lake Austin, Lake Travis, Canyon Lake, and the Guadalupe River State Park Road and Comal River are some nearby suggestions for waterfront accommodations.  There are hotels in Austin on Lady Bird Lake, which is our downtown lake - you can rent kayaks, paddleboats, etc.  Motorboats and swimming aren't allowed on LadyBird Lake, but there's an awesome hike and bike trail that goes all the way around LadyBird.  And check out Mount Bonnell while you're in Austin - breathtaking scenery.  So much to do here!  Have fun!

If you're heading to Austin, check out The White Horse in East Austin. It offers live music seven days a week, and it's a cool place to hang out. Take a look:

In Houston, there are Dosey Doe and Whiskey River. Dosey Doe is in an old tobacco barn offering amazing acoustics and ambiance. However, it is not limited to country music. Go to Whiskey River for affordable drinks and the quintessential Texas country music experience.

Billy Bob's Texas in Fort Worth is legendary.  It has hosted country icons such as Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, along with many rock bands like Styx and Heart. It has been also been featured in several tv shows including Dallas. Millions of people have visited this "honky tonk bar". You can also enjoy nearby Stockyards Boulevard that also has variety of country music bars, including the famous White Elephant Saloon. Also, visit Luckenbach near Fredericksburg (Texas) made famous by the Waylan Jennings and Willie Nelson song.  Population 3.
