Tony from Seattle asked

Cool small towns near Austin, Texas?

My wife and I are hanging in Georgetown, Texas for a few weeks with family but wanted to get out on an overnight road trip or two to somewhere interesting.  What small towns are worth a visit and why?  Happy to drive 5 or 6 hours for someplace interesting.  We love charming town squares, walks/hikes, food, and (occasionally) listening to live music (though we do NOT like contemporary country).

Texas (TX)

Lots of hiking places around the Austin/San Marcos area. Fredericksburg (Texas) has a really nice shopping experience of antiques, flea market type feel. Can float the river at New Braunfels.
