Taormina is up a steep hillside via a winding road. Parking garages are at both ends of the main pedestrian road through the town. Just walking the length of the town, poking around and taking in shops. etc. can use up several hours. The top attraction is, of course, the ancient Greek Theater. That's a must see. The main piazza in the center of town, Piazza IX Aprile, is a fine spot for people watching and catching your breath. If you're up to climbing a lot of stairs go up to see the Chiesa Madonna della Rocca. It is about a half hour climb with spectacular views at every turn along the way. Have lunch at TreQuarti - Antipasteria Siciliana, a small family owned restaurant with really good Sicilian food. That'll be a full day and one that you'll remember fondly.
