The most popular region to explore for a safari in Tanzania is the 'northern circuit'. This primarily refers to the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (and Crater), Lake Manyara National Park and Tarangire National Park. The game viewing in northern Tanzania is really exceptional, and these parks are quite diverse in their landscape, so a visit to this region really provides a dynamic experience.

I personally also really enjoy the Selous Game Reserve in southern Tanzania. This park is less visited, so fewer tourists! This doesn't mean that the safari is experience is in any way inferior - I've always been really lucky in terms of game viewing, with some exceptional lion and leopard sightings. The area is also known for having some of the best African Wild Dog populations in Africa.

Something else that makes this park quite unique are the boat safaris. This gives visitors a great way to see the hippos and crocodiles of the Rufiji river and it's many lakes!

Ngorongoro Crater is a must in Tanzania.  I think Zambia and a visit to Victoria Falls is one of the more amazing sights in Africa.  If you go to the Vic Falls area, definitely do a canoe safari on the Zambezi river.  Something that shouldn't be missed.
