You can go either Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Hunter Valley or South Coast

For me, I love South Coast (I used to love Central coast but when thinking about traffic I changed to south and never go up to central coast again)

 Driving time from Sydney:

Wollongong: 1.5 hrs

Kiama: 2 hrs

Berry: 2 hrs

Kangaroo Valley: 2 hrs

Jervis Bay: 3 hrs

Mollymook: Just over 3 hrs

Batemans Bay: 4 hrs

 Top Tips

Jervis Bay Marine Park - Hyams Beach has the whitest sand in the world (yes! It is)

Bread lovers delight - Any trip to the South Coast should include a stop at the Berry Sourdough Bakery & Cafe. Bread, pastries, tarts, cakes (I love their meat pie... )

Mollymook is also beautiful, or if you don't want to drive far just Kangaroo Valley is very relaxing.

Enjoy your weekend!

Definitely the Blue Mountains. Allow a whole day. Highway upgrades are finished...finally...so you shouldn't encounter any bottlenecks. Great walks and lookouts. Try lunch at Megalong Valley Tea Rooms.

Hi Emily - Jervis Bay is definitely a cool get away, nice port town, can do some whale watching or dolphin watching or check out the send dunes. Hunter Valley is great too, especially if you like wine and want to check out the local vineyards! The Blue Mountains offers a ton, you can hike, go see the waterfalls, check out the 3 sisters, wander around town which has a few great restaurants too.  The Jenolan Caves aren't too far from their either so you could kill two birds with one stone.

I would recommend Newcastle (Australia) for the arts, food and culture and the Hunter Valley for wine tasting.
