Day trip from Geneva

A couple of additional things to know about Switzerland:

1. It's a very cash-focused society. It is customary to pay for many things in cash -- this can come as an embarrassing surprise to non-Swiss visitors who are used to paying for everything with credit cards.
2. Many places are closed on Sundays -- stores, especially.

Annecy! Beautiful French Medieval City that is usually coined the venice of France, due to it's canals. It's also situated on a beautiful lake with the Alps in the background. It's only 30mins by car and is also reachable by bus for 30CHF round trip! 

Geneva is a very reasonable drive to a number of beautiful towns and cities along Lake Geneva (Lake Léman): Nyon, Morges and of course Lausanne. You can go north to Canton of Neuchâtel, stopping (I highly recommend) at the underappreciated Yverdon-les-Bains along the way. Geneva sits right on the French border, in case you're inclined to wander into France. Évian-les-Bains is a short drive.
