Non-skiing activities in Stowe

A group of about two dozen friends and family are meeting up in Stowe, Vermont, to ring in the new year and I think that most of the group are going skiing, but what can you recommend to folks like myself who don't ski?  Can anyone recommend good restaurants and things to see?  Thank you!

How fun!  The last time that I was in Stowe, it was a little rainy, making the snow icy, so no one went skiing!  I don't know where you're staying, but we spent a lot of time around the house cooking and we were lucky enough to have a heated pool (it's really cool to swim outdoors while it's snowing out!).

Here are a few things that we did outside the house: we had dinner at  Edson Hill Manor.  Very nice and quaint restaurant that's also a hotel.  Another really nice restaurant is  The Cliff House Restaurant, which is at the  Stowe Mountain Resort.  You take a gondola up there and have a gorgeous view of the mountain.  Everything there was good.

One fun thing to do would be to tour the  Ben & Jerry's factory in Waterbury.  They do tours every half an hour or so for about $5 a person.  If you have enough people and you're feeling adventurous at the end, you can order their "Monster Bucket" at the onsite store.  That's 20 scoops of ice cream with all the works!

An amazing new restaurant called Piecasso Pizzeria & Lounge is very popular in  Stowe. It's often quite crowded, though, since it's on the mountain road. The Trapp Family Lodge is also a great place to eat—it has very satisfying meals and it's also an experience to go there at all.
