Family with young children (ages 5 and 2) what to do in summer?

We love to see things that are truly local when we travel. We want to experience the city the way a family with young kids would.

Any activities would be great.

And any noteworthy family friendly restaurants is MUCH appreciated.

We will be staying in the center of town.

thanks!!

You must visit the Vasa Museum, it is great and your children will enjoy it! I suggest to visit also the Skansen Open-Air Museum, which is an open air museum which shows sweden story; you will find an old school, gardens, farms, tiny houses and a zoo!

I suggest you take a picture both of them at the Nobel Museum If they distinguish themselves in that arena you can take credit and say you knew it all along.  The The Vasa Museum Restaurant is a giant warship which sank leaving Stockholm on its maiden voyage. There is a fun little cafe on the top floor of the photography museum Fotografiska but Junibacken and Gröna Lund might be more age appropriate.  The trolleys are fun to ride around and you might want to take a boat tour of the islands.

Highly recommend the Vasa Museum Super fascinating. There is also an amazing park across the street that is worth a stroll after.

Good venues/museums in town for kids are.. in order Junibacken (Astrid Lindgrens barnsjukhus), Skansen (open air museum with zoo) and Gröna Lund (theme park) all on the Djurgårdsslätten  island.

Most people dine out with kids (in strollers). There aren't any family restaurants per se, I would just stay out of the touristy parts of town (Djurgården, Sturegallerian) on hot days as there are tons of ppl out. We usually go for early dinners, preferably outside.

Hi There are many great places to visit!

When will you go to Sweden? What dates?
YOu should visist Gröna Lund (theme park), Gamla Stan (old town), Djurgården(its where Gröna lund is, but you have a large area, just walk around and see the nature, you will fine some small and tasty coffee shops and more there).

Then just to do stuff mostly locals do, is to hang around Kungsholmen, take a long walk around Kungsholmen (its an Island approx 10km orbit).

If you guys need to rent an apartment, Im thinking about to put my apartment on AirBnB, I like in the center in the top of Scandic Grand Central. I have a 3 room apartment with a private terrass of 35 m2.

Have a great trip! =)
