Steamboat Springs

Best Restaurants and Bars when skiing in Steamboat?

In a few weeks I'll be headed to Steamboat for a long weekend of skiing/snowboarding. I've never been and don't know much about the town. What are some the best bars and restaurants -- some of the classics and especially those loved by the locals? I'll be with a group of friends and I'm open to places in any budget. Thanks!

I concur with Jeffery. We always stop at Sunpie's Bistro when we're in Steamboat Springs. Also breakfast at Paramount is delicious. One of the best breakfast burritos I have ever eaten.

Since budget is not a consideration, the best fine dining restaurant in Steamboat is Cafe Diva, located at the base of the ski area. It has excellent food and excellent service. There are many great restaurants in town, like Three Peaks GrillMahogany Ridge Brewery & Grill (great social buzzy atmosphere), Aurum Food & Wine (great location on the river, overlooking Howelsen Hill). Other recommendations depend on the types of cuisine you like. A couple of great Asian options are Noodles & More Saigon Cafe and Sake2U. One of my favorites and one you may not find out about without asking a local is Sumatera Restaurant. One warning: If you normally like your spice level at say 3 out of 5, knock it down by one at Sumatera.

This time of year, it's best to book ahead at any of these places.

Again, lots of great bar options here. For great apres ski options, go for T Bar At Steamboat or Slopeside Grill. Later on, head downtown to Sunpie's Bistro for a younger, wilder crowd or for a great live music venue, try Schmiggity's Live Music & Dance Bar.

Best of the Boat

Each year, the local paper holds a voting competition to determine the best of Steamboat in a number of different categories. Check out the Best of the Boat for 2014 dining category

Great choice!  My favorite Colorado ski town.  In the town, I love Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant for the best Mexican in town and amazing margaritas.  If the weather is nice, they have an awesome upstairs outdoor patio.  Best pizza is Beau Jo's Pizza just a little further up the road.  Big fan of Winona's Restaurantand Creekside Cafe & Grill for breakfast, lunch or brunch.

Up on the mountainside, best restaurant in town is Cafe Diva-great wine, great food and a lovely setting.
