St. Louis

Good family vacation within 10 hours of St. Louis (not Branson)?

Our family wants to go on a trip this fall but we're not quite sure if where to go. We will be going with our baby, our 4 year old daughter and his parents. His mother had knee surgery so hiking is out. We're based out of saint Louis and I'd like to drive less than 10 hours. I'm okay with not doing things along the way. Can you guys give some suggestions?

I lived along the shore of Lake Michigan and everyone from St. Louiscame there and spent the summers. It is 7-8 hours away. There is a Hampton Inn St. Louis-Downtown (At the Gateway Arch)Holiday Inn St. Louis - Downtown Conv Ctr, in St. Joseph, in South Haven and Holland. Plus cottages and State Park cabins etc.

The first place I thought of was Hot Springs   The National Park is free although you have to pay to go up the tower.  There is a Family Fun Park, Tiny Town (trains), a Gangster Museum, and horse racing in season.  The  Dallas Fort Worth area is about a 9 hour drive - you could go to the Fort Worth Stockyards and see the longhorns.  Memphis is a little closer.  The little ones could watch the ducks come down the elevator at the Peabody Hotel

Bentonville Arkansas!  Crystal Bridges museum of American art, great restaurants, quaint and tidy downtown area, farmer's market on Saturday, lots of Air bnb's, kid friendly, only 5 hours away.  Just got back from a quick 4 day road trip there and loved it!!
