Chloe from London asked

Where's the best place to go for an authentic lunch in Split, Croatia?

Heading to Split next week for a sailing trip, but I have a few extra days after and would love a few places I can try some authentic food.

Send over any recommendations! Ideally low-budget but a good experience!

Look for 'konobas' (taverns). They have amazing home made food. Some of the best ones are Konoba Marjan & Konoba Matejuska

If you'd like something more modern but with local food, try Food & Wine bar ZINFANDEL and Wine & Cheese Bar PARADOX wine and cheese bars.

Local foods and drinks to try: orahovica (walnut brandy), fish 'brudet', paski sir (Pag cheese), dried figs, 'pasticada', rafioli and krostule pastries, and a local mountain speciality 'soparnik': stone oven-baked spinach and garlic pie.

Buffet Fife is good but it's really basic, it's originally a place where fishermen went for a lunch break.

BUFFET FIFE! Such a good place for what you pay, they are very generous with their portions. I loved it there! Konoba Hvaranin was great too, a rustic feel with very local dishes. Both are excellent places. Have fun!
