Planning a week in Costa Brava in September. Looking for scenic historic city with good food and a bit of nightlife. Any suggestions?
We stayed in the historic city of Girona, the capital of the province. It would make a good base to the explore the area. There are some good restaurants. We hired a car to get out and about to visit the lovely coastline. The northern part is much prettier and less developed. Cadaques and the connection with Dali is interesting. I also like the resorts of Begur, Calella de Palafrugell and Tamariu. There are some excellent restaurants near the beach, good swimming and lovely coastal walks. You definitely get more of a flavour of typical Spain in this area. Further south it is more high rise package hotel territory.
