Southeast Asia

Want to travel Asia September/October/November- is this an OK time to go?

Planning a backpack adventure around southeast Asia, thinking of being there from end of September to end of November. Is this a good or bad time of the year to go?

It's typically monsoon season in Southeast Asia countries (in Malaysia, anyway) - bloody hot during the day, and heavy pouring rain late afternoon onwards. But nothing a cheap rain poncho can't solve. Depending on where you're heading, there's also the school holidays/peak season/etc to think about..

To answer your question: it's not a bad time to go.

You may run into a bit of rain in northern Thailand, especially in September going into October. I have guides for these destinations on my website, (link below) check out the section on weather, just keep in mind to pack accordingly.

Well Southeast Asia is a fun experience for food, culture and history. The best time I found is October through to January.. October is still monsoon season its a depending on which country your traveling in the fall months are great b/c its not to hot average temp in Chiang Mai is about 20-25c. If you head south to Phuket or Krabi its a hotter by 5-10c. The hotels do shut off the power during the day.
