A few hours in Siena - what to do?

I'll have 3-4 hours in Siena tomorrow, what should I do best in that limited time? Thank you!

Buongiorno Selin

The Piazza del Campo is at the very top of the list, but then you have many other choices as well! How about climbing up the Tower of Mangia and looking down on all of Siena?

Head to the Piazza del Duomoand buy yourself a pass to visit the inside of the Siena Cathedral, the baptistery, the Museum of Metropolitan Institution from where you can enjoy another view of Siena, and the crypt. Inside the cathedral enjoy the beautiful pavement stories and the Piccolomini Library.

Also check out the Santa Maria della Scalain front of the Duomo. This is one of the first examples of "hospital" (as in hospitality) in Europe that welcomed pilgrims making their way to Rome. Today it is a museum and hosts many temporary exhibitions being held in Siena.

I suggest you visit the Campo Regio Relais and if time permits have lunch or dinner at Osteria Le Logge just off the Campo on via del Porrione. Florence Cathedral (the Duomo) is one of Italy's greatest churches. You are lucky to experience one of Italy's and the world's greatest cities.

The Siena Cathedral is well worth a look.  Walk over to the Piazza del Campo and visit the Palazzo Pubblico (V. Anche Museo Civico).  If you are really industrious, you can climb to the top of the Tower of Mangia.  Then get something to eat/drink and people watch in one of the cafes.  If you are leaving town from the train station, ask the waiter to call a cab and they will drive right up to the cafe.  It's impossible to hail one.
